ADVUV630 Software Update Procedure

 

NOTES:

1.    Read and understand these instructions before proceeding with the update software. These instructions are specific to “ADVUV630.1004” software. These instructions are slightly different than the instructions for previous software updates.

2.    Before beginning the update procedure, turn OFF Bluetooth in the head unit. Go to the Bluetooth source > Setup (lower right-hand corner) > Bluetooth > OFF.

3.    Do not power OFF the head unit during the software update or the head unit may become inoperable.

 

Preparing the MicroSD card for Head Unit Updates

 

1.    Items needed to update the UV630 software:

a.    1GB (or larger) MicroSD card with adapter (When you buy a MicroSD card, they all come with a MicroSD card to full size SD card adapter).

 

2.    Format the extra MicroSD card prior to beginning the software update procedure. Deleting any existing data on the MicroSD card is not the same as formatting it. Format the MicroSD card using FAT32.

 

3.    After downloading the ADVUV630.1004.zip file, the file will need to be unzipped.

 

 

4.    After unzipping the ADVUV630.1004 file, the folder contents will need to be placed onto the root directory of the extra MicroSD card (Do not use the map MicroSD card).

 

5.    This software procedure will update the following systems:

a.    MPU

b.    OS

c.    MCU

d.    Logo

e.    MPEG

 

 

 

 

 

6.    The UV630 will require loading the following updates via the MicroSD card slot (top right-hand corner):

a.    MPU

b.    OS

c.    MCU

d.    Logo

 

7.    The UV630 will require loading the following update via the front USB port:

a.    MPEG

 

8.    Remove the factory map MicroSD card and set it aside. Do not add, delete or modify any files on the map MicroSD card.

9.    The MicroSD card should look like the below screenshot when loaded correctly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Beginning the software update

         

10.  All of the updates must be performed to update the UV630 to the latest software.

11.  Make sure the UV630 is OFF.

12.  Take out the map data MicroSD card.

13.  Turn ON the UV630.

14.  Insert the MicroSD card (with the UV630 software update files) into the MicroSD card slot.

15.  Go to the Main Source Menu and select the Navigation icon. The Software Update Menu will appear.

16.  The systems need to be updated in the following order;

a.    MPU

b.    OS

c.    MCU

d.    Logo

e.    MPEG

17.  Press the red arrow pointing right (right-hand corner of TFT) for MPU update. The page will scroll to another page. Press the right red arrow again to begin the update. The head unit will update itself and reboot.

18.  After the head unit reboots, you will be returned to the Radio source.

19.  Press and hold the rotary encoder and turn the unit OFF. When the illumination around the rotary encoder turns RED, the unit is OFF.

20.  Press the rotary encoder to turn the unit ON.

21.  A blue / teal update screen will display and the OS will update automatically in 4 steps.

22.  After the OS is finished updating, you will be returned to the Radio source.

23.  Go to the Main Source Menu and select the Navigation icon. The Software Update Menu will appear.

24.  Press the red arrow pointing right (right-hand corner of TFT) for MCU update. The page will scroll to another page. Press the right red arrow again to begin the update. The head unit will update itself and reboot.

25.  During the reboot, pop out the MicroSD card from the slot, but do not remove it. If the MicroSD card is not popped out of the slot before the head unit powers back up, the OS will try to update again. You will have about 5 seconds to pop out the MicroSD card. If you miss the time window to pop out the MicroSD card, then let the OS update again and then pop out the MicroSD card on the next cycle.

26.  After the head unit reboots, pop in the MicroSD card and press the “Navigation” icon. The Software Update Menu will be displayed.

27.  Use the RED Up / Down arrows on the right-hand side of the TFT to scroll down until you see LOGO.

28.  Press the red arrow pointing right (right-hand corner of TFT) for LOGO update. The page will scroll to another page. Press the right red arrow again to begin the update. The head unit will update itself and reboot.

29.  During the reboot, pop out the MicroSD card from the slot, and remove it. If the MicroSD card is not popped out of the slot before the head unit powers back up, the OS will try to update again. You will have about 5 seconds to pop out the MicroSD card. If you miss the time window to pop out the MicroSD card, then let the OS update again and then pop out the MicroSD card on the next cycle. The OS changes the LOGO, so if the OS updates again, you will have to redo the LOGO update.

 

MPEG Update

30.  Plug the MicroSD card w/ adapter into the front USB port.

31.  After a few moments, the Software Update Menu should automatically load.

32.  Press the red arrow pointing right (right-hand corner of TFT) for MPEG update. The page will scroll to another page. Press the right red arrow again to begin the update. The head unit will update itself and reboot and take you back to the Software Update Menu.

33.  Take out the MicroSD card w/ adapter and press the reset button just below and slightly to the left of the rotary encoder (volume control).

34. Verify firmware version. Go to the Settings Menu > DVD Rating > Scroll down list, the following firmware numbers should be listed:

 

a.    OS:  PA01-V2.02.0038.13-5M

b.    MPU: 0.03.2.01 2012-06-28

c.    MCU: V2.06 Jun 21 2012

d.    MPEG:03.1.04 2011-08-30

 

35.  Updates are now complete.
