All Prior Advent Firmware Updates are
included in this version. There is no need to upgrade to any version prior to
this before using this firmware.
This is a maintenance update to
address the following items:
NOTE: The Programming Code for this update has
changed, see below.
All Firmware files are
compressed to make it easier and faster to download. When you download this
file to your computer you will need a program to uncompress the files. This is
called “UNZIPPING”. There are many free programs to do this and your computer
may have already come with a program built in to do this. If you require a
program we recommend WINZIP.
WINZIP is free and can be
downloaded here: http://www.winzip.com/downwz.htm Follow
the instructions at the WinZip site for use of this utility. Please follow the
instructions below for performing the update to your radio.
NOTE: YOU MUST LOAD THE NEW
SOFTWARE ON EACH SD CARD. YOU CAN NOT COPY TO ONE CARD AND UPDATE MULTIPLE
RADIO’S. USE THE SD CARD FROM EACH RADIO SEPARATELY. THE FIRMWARE YOU DOWNLOADED IS SPECIFIC TO THE MODEL RADIO YOU
HAVE SELECTED. DO NOT USE IN ANOTHER MODEL OF RADIO. THIS WILL CAUSE IMPROPER
OPERATION AND POSSIBLY DAMAGE THE UNIT.
To update the firmware:
Remove the MAP SD
card from the radio. Take note on how it came out, contacts up or down?
You need a Micro SD
Card Adapter; this can be purchased at any office supply store. Insert the
Micro SD into the adapter and plug it into your computer. This can be a SD Card
slot or USB slot depending on your adapter and computer. Do not format the SD
card. If you do this you will delete the Map from your card. Follow the directions carefully.
If your radio has been updated previously
you must delete the following files from your SD card before proceeding: @@@8085A.fla, @@@8085A.fly Do Not delete any other files
NEXT: Unzip the file
you downloaded and copy all files to the MAP Micro SD CARD – This must be done
for each radio.
If you are asked
“File already exists, is it ok to replace, answer “YES” When completed remove the Micro SD from the adapter and
return to the vehicle. (This can be done on the bench too.)
Start with the key
off. (Or Power off if on the bench)
Insert the updated
SD card back into the radio exactly the same way it came out, Make sure it
clicks in.
Turn the radio on. Wait
for it to boot up. Hit the Menu button, Go to settings and go to the second
page, push update system. Wait for the key pad to show up, then enter 952784 and hit the enter/return key (looks
like an arrow)
select auto update, select yes to update all. The update will begin running.
Wait until the radio reboots completely
and the Radio Screen comes up; do not stop the update,
BLUETOOTH UPDATE:
After the update
above has been completed. Go to the SETTINGS Menu and press SYSTEM UPDATE,
Enter 543210
and hit the enter/return key (looks like an arrow). Select UPDATE BLUETOOTH,
Select YES. When the Update is complete it will return to the Main Update
screen. Press “EXIT and RESTART”.
SELECT 2012 or 2013 Model Year Vehicle:
Toyota has made a
change in the 2013 Model year Dash Light dimmer circuit. In order to select the
correct operating system for the vehicle you must select it from a programming
menu. This can be done in the vehicle or on the bench.
If you are only
Updating a Venza radio already installed in a 2012 or lower model year this
step is NOT required.
Go to the SETTINGS
Menu and press SYSTEM UPDATE, Enter 31521 and hit the enter/return key (looks like an arrow). A screen
will come up with two choices: "2012
and lower years” and “2013 Model
year”. Select the correct year for your installation and let the update
run. When completed it will return to this screen. Press “REBOOT” to exit. If
the wrong year is selected your button illumination lights will not operate
correctly and the Back Up Camera will stay engaged. NOTE: in the 2013 Model
Year the AUTO DIMMER mode under settings is disabled as the vehicle controls now
handle this function. This is Normal operation.
Last: Select
Settings from the main menu, then go to page 2, press and hold SYSTEM RESET UNTIL THE RADIO SHUTS OFF, (this is extremely
important) then let the radio reboot.
When the radio
restarts and returns to the Radio screen select menu. Select the Nav
application, and restart if needed. Let run for a few moments, If you get a
message asking for an “Activation code“ in the NAV go to the INFO screen under
the SETTINGS menu and write down the UUID code on the bottom line. Call Tech
Support or Customer Service. Advise them that you need an “Activation Code” and
the model number of the radio. They will ask for the UUID number. Once you have
the activation code, enter it into the keypad that comes up when you run the Navigation
Application. (Only applies to Horizon Navigation).
Your Radio now has
all the latest features. Remember to set the volume for your nave system. This
must be done while the navigation system is speaking. To do this enter a route,
the press the I Icon in the top right corner of the Nav screen to get the
system to repeat the last message. The volume set will be retained and will not
change unless you adjust it again.
You’re finished.
This process should not take more than about 5 or 10 minutes to complete.
